Business account and spend cards for startups

Cards with rules.

Give everyone on your team a card with its own limit, merchants and approvals. Every payment shows up the moment it happens, any card can be frozen in a second, and the month closes without a receipt hunt.

Free to open · No personal guarantee · About 10 minutes to apply

01 · Who

Pick who it's for.

Start from a role. Each one comes with merchant rules you can change later: design pays for software, sales for travel and client meals, operations for supplies and shipping.

This card pays for SOFTWARE

  • Design tools
  • Software subscriptions
  • Cloud hosting
  • Stock images

02 · How much

Set the limit.

Drag to set a monthly limit. Small payments go straight through. Raise the limit and the card starts asking: a manager approves anything over $500, and above $5,000 a founder also signs off on payments over $2,500.

  2. ManagerPayments over $500 wait for a manager.
  3. FounderPayments over $2,500 also need a founder.

03 · Stop

Freeze it in a second.

Lost card, odd charge, someone leaving: press and hold to freeze. New payments are declined until you hold again. Nothing else on the account changes.

Press and hold. On a keyboard, hold Space or Enter.

Every payment

Seen as it happens.

A payment lands here the moment the card is used: who, where, how much. The cardholder gets a text asking for the receipt. They reply with a photo, and Purser attaches it to the payment.

Safety Illustrative

Purser is not a bank. Your money is held at a partner bank in your company's name, and we never lend it out.

  • Insured deposits

Deposits are held at Ellery Bank, N.A. (fictional), Member FDIC, and insured up to $250,000 per depositor, per ownership category.

  • A number per card

Each card has its own number, so a leaked one stops at that card. Freeze it from your phone.

  • Every change logged

Two-step sign-in for everyone. Every limit change, freeze and login is recorded with who did it.

  • Audited yearly

An outside auditor reviews our controls every year (SOC 2 Type II, illustrative).

Month end

The month closes itself.

By the last day, each payment already has its receipt, its category and its cardholder. Export it and you're done.

Questions founders ask

Who can apply?

Companies registered in the US (LLC or C-corp) with a US address, and an owner who can verify their identity. You don't need to have raised money.

How long does it take?

The application takes about 10 minutes. Most companies get a decision within one business day, and virtual cards work as soon as the account opens.

Is there a credit check or a personal guarantee?

No. Purser cards spend money already in your account, so there's no personal credit check and no personal guarantee.

Can I limit a card to certain merchants?

Yes. Allow or block categories or single merchants on each card, and change them whenever you like.

What happens to a frozen card?

New payments are declined. Payments that already went through stay settled, and you can unfreeze it at any time.

Can I close the account?

Yes, from settings, at any time. There's no closing fee, and we send the remaining balance to the account you choose.

Deal the team in.

Open an account in about 10 minutes. When it's approved, hand out the first card.
